Year 7 Geography Trip

Fifty excited Year 7 students, nearly half the year group, assembled at Birmingham Airport to fly to Naples, Italy for an action packed four days of adventure on the Prep School Geography trip.
On arrival, the group headed straight for a pizza making farm in Sorrento where the students were able to make their own pizzas and enjoy a guided tour around the organic farm. The day ended with a trip to the beach where much fun was had by all in the evening sunshine overlooking the Bay of Naples.
On the second day, pupils headed off to the Roman excavated ruin of Herculaneum/Ercolano Scavi for a full guided tour of the magnificent ruins. Some of the artefacts recovered are remarkable and it was fascinating to see them close up.
The party enjoyed a picnic lunch before heading up Mount Vesuvius. The children loved buying replica football shirts at stalls in the car park before trekking up to the summit. The views were tempered by the clouds but it will be a day that will live long in the memory. The sense of walking to the summit of a dormant volcano was palpable amongst the students on the coach back to their accommodation.
It was an early start on day three for the world-renowned Amalfi drive, costa Amalfitano. After a pitstop above the picturesque Positano, there was time for ice cream at Amalfi Town and a photoshoot on the steps leading up to the cathedral of St Andrew Apostle. A short boat trip awaited the group, going along the coast to the town of Maiori before travelling up to Ravello, which, for Mr Jones, is the jewel in the crown on the Amalfi Coast.
The students visited the gardens of the Villa Rufolo, followed by an opportunity to shop in the narrow alleyways which were pedestrianised. They finished the day with another trip to the beach.
Waking up each day to stunning views over the Bay of Naples and a glorious sunset over the Island of Ischia will live long in the memory.
Mr Jones is always honoured to take a group of Bromsgrovians away and he is very grateful to the staff who helped him ensure the trip ran smoothly - Mr Barratt, Mrs James, Mrs Townsend and Mrs Webley.
