U13 IAPS National Netball Champions

For only the second time in Bromsgrove Prep’s history have the U13s lifted the IAPS National netball shield. The last time being 2008, before any of this team were born… and they did so again today.

The girls dominated the group stage matches, demonstrating their flair and passion for the game right from the first match against Brighton College, which they won. Next, against King’s Hall Taunton, the goals kept flowing and our defence found their feet for our girls to also win.

Against Danes Hill, Bromsgrove continued their brilliant play to win. In the penultimate group stage match, the girls were up against a strong side from St Christopher’s who tested our defenders but Bromsgrove were superb to gain valuable interceptions, turning the game in our favour to win. In the last group stage match against St Faith’s, Bromsgrove lost momentum a little and unfortunately blotted their copy book slightly, to lose in the last couple of seconds.

Undeterred, after a break, Bromsgrove learnt that despite the loss, they had already done enough to win their group and therefore had an ‘easier’ route through in the quarter final playing the runners up of another group. This team was from Highfield and Bromsgrove displayed just how fantastically well they can play, romping to an incredible victory.

In the semi-final, Bromsgrove played Godstowe. At the half time break, they were only just up by one goal but stepped up another level in the second half to win comfortably.
At this point, the girls knew the National title was theirs to lose against a strong and very tall Ardingly side. The self belief and composure that the girls displayed was beyond their years, and the coaches could not have been any prouder of them all at the full time whistle. The score line : Ardingly 7, Bromsgrove 13.

This is an incredible achievement that will live long in the memories of the girls, their coaches and parents.
