Swimming Lessons

Posted: 03/09/2021

The importance of learning to swim is an ability that everyone should possess. You never know when you, your child or those around you will find themselves in a difficult situation within a pool or outdoors where the skill of swimming is required. The recent success of the GB team within the pool at the Tokyo Olympics has sparked interest within young people to pick up swimming for fun, to compete and to learn a lifesaving skill.

Bromsgrove School Swimming Academy is based at the School and is open to all the children in the area, specialising in teaching children to swim from the age of 4 onwards. The Academy has been up and running for almost 10 years, and with our dedicated, passionate and approachable teaching staff, children of all abilities have flourished with their swimming. Lessons are open to complete beginners, experienced competitors, and everything in between packed with guidance and experience to help students on their journey. Olympian Adam Peaty has been quoted as saying: “At the start I didn’t like swimming much at all… As soon as I knew I enjoyed the water and started having fun I forgot about the fear.”

The Academy’s experienced team is proudly known to be teachers that care. This, combined with small class sizes and a wonderful school environment, allows learners to thrive and really enjoy their experience. Parents have described lessons as “one to one lessons, but in a group”. Class size for beginners are based on 8 children with 2 teachers. Confident beginners to more accomplished swimmers, still swimming lengths, are based on a maximum of 6 children to 1 teacher. Advanced swimmers attending length sessions are based on 8 children per lane.

The new term on Monday 6th September 2021, with a brand new and exciting programme. Lessons take place 7 days a week, and in addition to the existing programme, an extra 450 places for all levels of ability have been created. Lessons are open to all children from both Bromsgrove School and the local community, so do not hesitate to get in touch as all are welcome.

The safety of children is paramount to the Academy; all teachers are qualified, hold the necessary lifesaving qualifications, have enhanced DBS checks and attend regular safeguarding training. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, including a café where parents can relax while lessons are in progress, alongside easy and plentiful parking, attending swimming lessons has never been so enjoyable.
