Shine School Media Awards 2024

This year saw the relaunch of Two Zero One, the pupil-led magazine, under the expert stewardship of editor Annika K who led a dedicated team of writers, researchers and artists across a wide range of topics from politics to sport, society to mental health.

The first edition was released at the start of the Summer Term and entered for a number of categories at the Shine School Media Awards. This is a global competition which attracted hundreds of entries. It is hosted by The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, a 600 year old livery company in the City of London for the communication and content industries.

Bromsgrove School was shortlisted for two awards: Best Non-fiction Article by Ilerioluwa O and Best Article on Designated Topic: Sport, by Annika K.

Well done to Ilerioluwa who was Highly Commended, and many congratulations to Annika who won her category.

The ceremony was hosted in Stationers’ Hall, just off Fleet Street in Central London, and attended by editors and sub-editors of publications such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, The Daily Mail, Country Living as well as photographers from Getty Images, representatives from Google and international cartoonist Ilya.

Invited students took part in workshops which included ‘How to Podcast’, ‘Entering Journalism’, ‘Cartoon creation’ and ‘Bookbinding’ before a formal lunch and awards ceremony hosted by key figures from the publishing industry.
