Remembrance Day 2024
Posted: 12/11/2024
On Friday, Cadets from Bromsgrove School sold poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and at Hopwood Service Station. They raised £1422 in Redditch and £1238 at Hopwood, a substantial amount that will go to veterans and their families.
We also had a number of Cadets on parade on Sunday and Monday in Bromsgrove Town Centre. At Sunday's parade, Cadet LCpl Thomas S laid a wreath on behalf of Bromsgrove School CCF. In School, two services were held in the Memorial Chapel for pupils and staff to pay their respects.
As well as being a member of our own CCF, Marley S is a member of Droitwich 2516 Air Cadet Squadron. He is a Flight Sgt in the ATC and led the Air Cadet Band in the Droitwich parade on Sunday.
Pre-Prep made their own poppies and planted them around the flagpole on Remembrance Day. Pupils and staff then held a two minute silence.
In Wales, Megan Griffiths and Nikki Thorpe from the Bromsgrovian Alumni Office represented the School in Llanwrtyd Wells on Remembrance Sunday. A wreath was laid in honour of the Old Bromsgrovians lost in the war and the names of the fallen were read out during a service at St James’ Church.
