Project Takeoff 2019

Mulan Y and Vivianne Z W initiated Project Takeoff in 2018. During their summer break, they went to Yang Yuan county in northern China to teach - for the first time - a free two-week English course for forty students at Bei Guan Primary School.
They designed their lesson plans and all of their material from scratch due to the belief that introducing creative, innovative and fun ways to learn English is what will truly allows young people to take off without limits in the future.
Project Takeoff’s destination for 2019 is Tingjiang Middle School in Fujian on the southeast coast of China, which is where Mulan and Vivianne are currently teaching this summer. With different themes for each lesson, this year’s thirty students have experienced something new every day - ranging from expressing their opinions in a debate, to being tourists asking for directions and ordering food at a restaurant. Through a mix of reading, writing, speaking and group activities, together with a classroom atmosphere where the students are encouraged to go out of their comfort zone, Mulan and Vivianne teach with a purpose to help the students realise their own potential and gain confidence and curiosity in their learning.
