Prep School finish as runners-up in the Bunbury Cup
Posted: 10/07/2014
On Wednesday 9th July, the Preparatory School's 1st XI cricket team made history when they became the first Bromsgrove team ever to contest the U13 David English Bunbury National Cricket Cup Final.
Their opponents were Millfield Prep School from Somerset. Bromsgrove won the toss and elected to bat first having done this in every round of the competition so far and felt in confident mood. Unfortunately we never got going with our batting and were all out for 54 runs.
Captain Evan Lewis once more proved difficult to dislodge and he remained at the crease for an hour. Our biggest partnership came with a last wicket stand of 17 runs from Morgan Bennett and Pearce Childs. In reply Millfield reached their target of 55 runs in the tenth over to give them a ten wicket victory.
Despite the fact the players, coaches and parents were disappointed at the outcome we could hold our heads up high for coming national runners-up. An incredible season and nothing can detract from what has been an amazing season for the boys. A huge thank you to all our parents for re-arranging their holiday plans to enable the full team to play in this match.
