On Thursday, 28th March 2019, the U11A girls’ hockey team competed in the Midlands regional hockey finals.
Bromsgrove started well beating Spratton Hall and Warwick Prep 1-0. The girls then faced a strong Fairfield Prep team and despite their best efforts lost 3-0. Bromsgrove bounced back to win their remaining group games: 3-0 against Old Hall, 5-0 versus Linby and Papplewick and 1-0 against Wolverhampton Grammar School. This meant that Bromsgrove finished as runners up in their group and progressed through to the semi-final to play their local rivals King’s Hawford. The girls demonstrated excellent team work and great work rate in a very close match that ended 0-0. Bromsgrove held their nerve in the penalty flick competition to win 2-1.
The girls then played Fairfield Prep in the final, having lost to them in the group stages, Bromsgrove played their best hockey of the day and the match ended 0-0. Once again the girls were calm under pressure and won the penalty flick competition 3-1 to be crowned regional champions.
Well done to Amelia A, Maddie F, Ruby F, Jess F, Megs H, Georgie H, Riana H, Lauren R and Tilly W.
