IAPS Hockey Plate Winners

Huge congratulations to the girls’ U12A hockey team who have won the IAPS Plate competition at Repton School amongst some very strong opposition.
In the group stages, the girls drew 1 - 1 against Millfield and lost 2 - 0 to Cranleigh. The girls then went on to beat St Peter’s School 3 - 0 and finally played Culford in their last group stage match where they unfortunately lost 3 - 0. This put them as fourth in the group and they needed to beat the third placed team from group one for a place in the quarter final.
Bromsgrove played some superb hockey to keep Taunton to a 0 - 0 draw after extra time and the game went to penalty strokes. A very exciting set of penalties followed with our girls finally winning on sudden death. This put Bromsgrove through to the semi final against Cheltenham Prep. Here, our girls played their best hockey of the day winning the match 3 - 0 and were through to the gold medal match against Cranleigh who we had previously lost in the group stages 2 - 0.
Bromsgrove scored early and played excellently but were extremely unlucky to concede in the last second of the game from a Cranleigh short corner. In extra time, Bromsgrove battled hard displaying some great hockey and the score at the full time whistle was 0 - 0. Once again, the girls were to play penalty strokes. Bromsgrove demonstrated poise and composure to win 2 - 1 and were presented with their well deserved gold medals. A fantastic squad effort from all of the girls involved - well done.
