GCSE Results 2017
Posted: 24/08/2017
Against a backdrop of ongoing uncertainty about national examination reforms, Bromsgrove School’s Fifth Form has achieved a superb set of GCSE results which are amongst the School’s best. 36% of the total grades achieved were graded A*, representing Bromsgrove’s highest ever top end result. 60% of results were graded A*/A, also amongst the best results a Fifth Form cohort has achieved. The overall grade spread continues to be on a par with the strong performances the School has come to expect in recent years.
There will be many happy students and families in Bromsgrove and around the world as they log on to get their results and anticipate the next exciting step in their lives. Particular congratulations go to Alia Derriey who achieved a full house of A*s or 9s, and to local pupil Sam Osborne who achieved 8 A*s and 3 As whilst also attending daily swimming training. Sam represented Team GB at the Győr 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival. Well done to the six students who dropped only a single grade in one of their subjects.
Headmaster Peter Clague said, “These grades represent a significant personal achievement for each student as their first experience of national public examinations. They are the culmination of hard work and perseverance, an encouragement of the potential that lies inside each of them. Collectively, the results do not merely reflect well on our student body, but also showcase the dedication and quality of staff at Bromsgrove School, outstanding educators who are the architects of aspiration and success.”
