ESAA National Final 2022
Posted: 04/07/2022
Huge congratulations to our Years 7 & 8 girls who competed in the ESAA National finals at Tilsley Stadium, Abingdon Oxford. The girls performed brilliantly on the track, and at the half way point, they were on 219 points and ranked 7th from the best thirteen state and private schools from around the country.
Highlights of the track include Belle D coming 1st from all of the junior girls in the 200m, running 26.4 secs and scoring a massive 30 points for the team. This was the first time in the history of the School that a Prep girl has won an event in this competition.
Other performances that scored 20 points or more were Jadyn O running 13.6 secs (23 points), in the 100m and Caitlin P in the 1500m (25 points). Also scoring 20 points were our 4 x 100m relay team consisting of Rumer E, Caitlin P, Anna L and Belle D.
On the field, the girls tried hard to better previous performances in extremely wet and windy conditions. A particular well done to Emily W who set a new School record in the hammer with a throw of 24.37m. Emily also won this hammer competition. Jadyn O received 18 points in the long jump and both of our high jumpers Charlotte K and Sharon N jumped 1.26m to gain 32 points between them.
By the end of the competition, the girls came in 11th place. To have even qualified in the top thirteen best schools in the country for the National finals was a terrific achievement and we are very proud of all our girls. Well done to Sophia B, Neave C, Belle D, Rumer E, Charlotte K, Isabel K, Anna L, Sharon N, Gina O, Jadyn O, Caitlin P, Sammy R and Emily W.
