Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
The start of term saw challenging weather that delayed some arrivals and the big freeze hit the UK. It was a shock to the system for many who had enjoyed a long holiday at home, many in sunnier climes, but we got back into our routines once the mock exams started for GCSE and IB2.
Oakley was well represented in this week’s lunchtime concert when Trissie and Joyce showcased their musical talents. Joyce treated us on the flute with Aria from Suite Antique by Rutter and Trissie played the piano beautifully, impressing the audience with Guy Ryan’s Freeway. Well done, girls.
Thank you to Bernice and Karis who represented Oakley in the Senior House Table Tennis competition:
Keeping Oakley spirits high, despite the cold weather, we treated the girls to house breakfast at the end of the first week. We set them a teams challenge – can you identify each other from your voice alone? I’m pleased to say I got mine right despite a sabotage attempt from Mia Ax and Miss Farrell!
Mrs Pugh continues to run her lunchtime crochet club for girls wanting to practise their skills and take some time out of their day for a quiet chat:
Saturday night saw a thrilling pool competition. 16 girls took part and it was a highly contested tournament. Well done to Brisha who came in 4th place, Head of House Ashna in 3rd and Yasmin came 2nd. Noone could beat the Farrell who took great pleasure in her victory despite stiff competition!
Finally we have been thrilled to be visited by OB Oakley girls over the last week. Alicia Wong, who is enjoying her studies at Southampton University, came back to see old friends and we were delighted to see Alicia looking so well and happy:
And Lara Sievert, currently in her 2nd year at Imperial College, London University, visited her younger sister Lina who is definitely following in Lara’s impressive footsteps:
Best wishes
Victoria Adams
