Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
It has been whirlwind end to the term as usual. Christmas began with arrival of the tree and the girls enjoyed decorating Oakley and making gingerbread houses to get us all in the spirit:
More silverware arrived for our trophy cabinet in the form of the Junior House champions. My thanks to the team who played so well ensuring our success: Celina, Ava, Lacey, Emily, Lucy, Zoe, Tiffany, Sanskriti and Shristi.
The Seniors may not have won but they had fun playing! Thanks also to Esinam, Clara, Tajvy, Rozelyn, Yasmin, Ashna and Greycious:
Oakley joined with Mary Windsor for our Christmas Party at Grafton Manor. It was a really special evening with lots of dancing and photographs:
My end of term assembly reflected on the term and the fact that the girls have survived 11 Monday mornings, 15 duty rotas, snow, 75 prep nights, 3 fire alarms, storms, 1 Christmas party, 1 wedding, infinite tests, innumerable house song rehearsals, stuffy noses and sore throats, and probably 17 tons of noodles. Our new Oakley girls are not new any more and I am really proud of the welcome they have been given and the contribution they have made in this short space of time.
The following were recognised for their achievements:
Most commendations: Shristi
Tutee of the term (as chosen by tutors):
Shristi, Belle, Amy, Xenia, Nikki, Jessica L and Molly Lau
House ties:
Sanskriti, Shristi, Lacey, Emily, Lucy, Belle, Tea, Lucile, Mia Audemars, Mia Axioti, Stasy and Amelie
House colours:
Ibby, Trissie, Nikki, Sai-Nam, Kalash, Sasha and Victoria
On Thursday evening we enjoyed our traditional Carol Service in the Memorial Chapel followed by some treats in house.
And in Mark Reading this morning there was even more to celebrate:
Students were invited to receive prizes for bring the top subject performers. Congratulations to Trissie for receiving the GCSE Music prize.
Incredibly, one student received the prize for 5 subjects. You can imagine the ripple of amazement that could be heard across the school when Kalash was invited to receive her prizes for being the top performer in Art, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature and Mathematics. Wow.
Kalash, Nikki and Sai-Nam were congratulated for receiving a full house of Grade 9s in their GCSEs.
Finally, over the past couple of weeks, I challenged the girls to do some further charity fundraising for our House charity Medicins Sans Frontieres. Karis and Lina held two successful bake sales which brings the termly total to £1213.05, which is an outstanding amount!
I hope all the girls enjoy a wonderful time at home with their families over the Christmas break and return safely and refreshed next year for another busy and fulfilling term.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
