Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
Upper Fourth tutor, Miss Hopkins left us before half term and returned as Mrs Jones after the holidays. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Jones!
The cold snap of last week has been replaced with stormy weather this weekend and it’s hard to believe we are halfway through this half term. It began with our Remembrance Services and the whole school gathered at the Memorial Chapel.
In Routh we celebrated the achievements of our IB2 students who have excelled in the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) program, a central part of the IB Diploma. Dr. West, Head of CAS, has carefully reviewed the students' portfolios and was delighted to recognise a select group for their exceptional engagement and contributions. Congratulations Lina!
The Girls Mathematical Olympiad is a challenging paper with 5 problem solving questions, sat over 2 ½ hours. Well done to Christina, Sai-Nam and Jessica who received merits while Kalash gained a distinction. Kalash, Nikki and Jessica were also made Honorary Academic Scholars, recognised for their excellent GCSE results in the summer.
Well done to Ibukun who was awarded her Silver Duke of Edinburgh award.
Molly, Maria and Lea represented Oakley in Junior House Badminton gaining a respectable 2nd place and good luck to the girls for the hockey and swimming competitions this week.
Congratulations to Kalash and Sai-Nam for receiving Director of A Level Commendations for their outstanding AE grades this week.
Best wishes
Victoria
