Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians

The theme for this year’s House Song was announced as Nature in Routh Assembly at the start of the week and, after much discussion, the Monitor Team have picked Another Day of Sun from La La Land. An ambitious piece but preparations are already under way and rehearsals will start for the whole house this Friday.

Congratulations to Ayushma Thapa who was recognised in Routh Assembly for her Silver Award in the Biology Olympiad, placing her in the top 10% of students who entered from 722 schools. Kalash Rai was also praised for representing school at a Stop The Bleed event with the West Midlands Ambulance Service last weekend.

Taking the annual House photo was also a highlight last week. It was great to see the older girls helping new students get themselves picture perfect:






Although there have been a few colds around Oakley House, we have also enjoyed some treats. Karis’s team won the photo competition and the girls enjoyed their McDonalds reward lunch:




And the whole house had a little lie-in last Friday because we served breakfast in Oakley:






And our U6 enjoyed a night out at Stanbrook Abbey for their annual Boarders’ Ball:




As September comes to a close and today marks the halfway point of this first long half term, I would like to share how impressed I am with the 28 new boarders who have joined us this year. Despite the unpredictable weather, they seem to be happy in their new surroundings with new friends and they are making the most of their busy days. We will continue to cajole, encourage and keep spirits up as your daughters work hard to make you proud.
