Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
This short half term is speeding by and we are gearing up for our U6 leavers’ events next week. With some of the girls celebrating their 19th birthdays recently, it is exciting to think that they are about to fly the nest. Getting them all in the right place at the same time has proven a challenge but end of year photographs have already begun:
The Cultures Connect Concert was a wonderful showcase of talent from around the world. Ashna welcomed the audience at the door and our very own Alvina opened the show on the keyboard with her brother on vocals singing ‘Mr Brightside’, getting the audience in the mood. Tanvi was part of a stunning traditional Nepalese dance and Arila performed in a dance from China, both girls proudly wearing national dress. It was a really special evening and a packed event.
We marked Baba Marta, the traditional Bulgarian day marking the start of Spring and many of us, including the Headmaster, received bracelets from our international students:
Congratulations to the Oakley 1.2 relay team who came 3rd last week in this exciting whole school event. Celina, Winnie, Veronika, Ashna, Hatty and Sasha did us very proud:
We also marked Mothers’ Day with a chapel service. Oakley girls presented Mrs Pugh with some flowers and a card full of lovely messages. We are very lucky to have Mrs Pugh as our House Mother!
This week we are in competition again with House football this evening, Senior House Drama and Junior Volleyball on Friday. With Mark Reading at the end of term next week, my final newsletter of the Lent Term will no doubt be filled with the names of girls recognised for their achievements over the past few weeks.
