Why Does Bromsgrove Service Matter? - November 2021
Bromsgrove Service is an incredibly important aspect of life at Bromsgrove School as it strengthens both the internal community in School and encourages both charity towards and engagement with the wider community.
At Bromsgrove, we believe that there is nothing more important than a community brought together, which is why there is so much focus on Bromsgrove Service here at our School. Spreading resources and lending a helping hand are the joys of living, and we enjoy this through activities such as our Deaf Culture and Communications group, Residential homes group, Prep School helpers, and Young Archivists; activities that enhance both the individual and the community.
For the school community…
Our School can seem pretty daunting sometimes, with 1,660 students busily rushing about their daily lives like bees. It can often be difficult to stop and make time for meaningful connections. Bromsgrove Service brings people together within our huge School and provides a common goal for students, regardless of the fifty different countries they hail from. A wide variety of activities such as beekeeping, crafting and sports leaders allow our students to make friends, whilst contributing to wider School life.
For the wider community…
Bromsgrove is a truly wonderful place and it is so heart-warming to see the impact that Bromsgrove Service makes on the community. The Basement Project, which is run by Mrs Wright every Tuesday, springs to mind when thinking of the positive influence that our actions can have on the town in which our School is located. Just down the road from our School, The Basement Project offers support to people in need, such as the homeless or those living in poverty. However, this is only possible because of the charitable donations that are made, and we as a School are very proud to say that Bromsgrove Service has contributed to the work that The Basement Project carries out. An example of an event that the School's Basement Project team put on is the recurring bake sale, which is marked in calendars across the School (because who doesn't love to eat cake for charity?!). This is just one of the many opportunities that Bromsgrove Service offers and we hope to give you a better taste (pun intended) of these in later posts.
