Switch Off Fortnight

Switch Off Fortnight

Posted: 29/04/2021

On Monday, the Year 5 Eco Committee members delivered a presentation to Prep School pupils explaining what Switch Off Fortnight is all about. Pupils are encouraged to switch off lights and whiteboards around the School in an effort to reduce the amount of electricity we use. Energy Monitors are going into classrooms at break times to spot check everything is off, and if so, a sticker is awarded. At the end of next week, the charts will be collected and a winning form from each year group will receive a prize.

Pupils are encouraged to remember to switch it off at home as well as School. Did you know that approx 12% of the average family’s electricity bill is spent on powering appliances on standby?

Many thanks to the Eco Committee for leading this initiative.
