Ice Worlds visit

As part of their Ice Worlds topic, pupils from Year 3 were treated to a visit from a very special guest this morning in the form of historical figure and icon, Sir Ernest Shackleton.
They heard all about the sad tale of the failed Trans-Antarctic expedition of 1914-16, about his ship, The Endurance, and how it became icebound and ultimately crushed by the shifting ice. He then recounted the exciting tale of the rest of the adventure that led to their daring rescue mission. The story has sparked a lot of discussion about leadership and what it takes to be a good leader.
The children asked a lot of really interesting questions and they all agreed that this is truly one of the most remarkable survival stories of all time.
