Regional Competition

A huge well done to all of our Prep athletes at the Regional Competition held at Stourport Sports Club on Thursday, 13th June 2019. Our pupils certainly did us proud with a number of top three finishes and School records broken. The full reports from the boys' and girls' teams can be read below. 


GIRLS:



On Thursday, our Bromsgrove girl athletes had an incredible amount of success at the Regional athletics competition. Thirty Prep girls took part and our outstanding performances include athletes who achieved a Regional top 4th position:

Freya L in the U14 100m
Alanah H in U13 discus
Ruby F in the U12 long jump and discus
Honey Bo L in the U13 javelin
Lauren R in the U12 70m hurdles
Scarlet P in the U13 70m hurdles
Teah P in the U13 100m final

Girls who came 3rd, just missing out on a place in the National Finals include:
Elizabeth S in the U13 70m hurdles
Amy A in the U14 300m final
Sara L in the U13 800m and high jump
Katie H in the U13 javelin
Jessica F in the U13 high jump
Siena B in U12 shot put
U13 relay team

In the coveted 2nd place position, but sadly do not progress to National Finals include:
Our U14 and U13 relay teams
Lily-Mae W in the U14 75m hurdles

The girls who came second and achieved the qualifying standard to go through to the National finals are:
Emily D in the U14 1500m
Riana H in the U12 shot put
Honey Bo L in the U13 high jump
Scarlet P in the U13 long jump
Meghan H in the U13 800m
Sophia M in U14 triple jump
Emelia M in U14 javelin

Finally, our most impressive results of the day were those athletes that won their event to gain a place at National Finals. Within these results, two new School records were broken.

Alice W-M who was competing a year young in this competition, smashed the U11 school 1500m record, in a time of 5.35.3 mins. An incredible time for someone so young and new to this event.

Rosie C won the U14 75m hurdles final in a time of 13.4 secs

Ella K won the U14 1500m race in a time of 5.38 mins

Amelia R won both the 200m and the 300m becoming Double Regional Champion

Lidia B won the U14 shot put throwing 7.57m

Riana H beat the School U13 high jump record jumping a fantastic 1.30m and qualified for the finals in two events

Isabelle K threw a terrific 6.71m in the U13 shot put, winning the event and is also through to the final

Finally, Lily-Mae W threw 18.22m in the U14 discus to win and will compete for the second year running in this event


We congratulate all of our girls who took part on the day and look forward to the National finals on Monday 1st July at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.



BOYS:



A superb day of athletics for forty-five of our best Preparatory School boy athletes at the Mercia area Championships. Highlights include:

Year 8

1st
Seth R 36.51 metres in the javelin to go third on all-time list for Prep School
Daniel V 11.76 metres in the triple jump, missing the meeting record by just 15cm
Joe Mc 4.87 metres in the long jump

2nd
Daniel V 13.8 seconds 80 metres hurdles
Manobal L 45.7 secs in the 300 metres and 23.58 metres in the discus

3rd
Hanli Y 200 metres in 27.8 seconds
Max J 1.40 metres in the high jump
Markuss T-F 4.60 metres in the long jump and 46.1 seconds in the 300 metres
Rohan A 10.15 metres in the triple jump
4x100 metres relay Hanli Y, Daniel V, Kingsley R and Joe Mc

Year 6

Ollie D 13.5 secs in the 75 metres hurdles and 2 min 34 secs in the 800 metres
Beau V-H 24.67 metres in the javelin

All of the above who finished first or second, except the Year 6 relay team and Alfie, have qualified for National Preparatory Schools final on Monday, 1st July at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. A huge well done to all our athletes.
