25th English Schools National Swimming Finals

On Saturday, our U11 girl and boy swimmers took part in the 25th English Schools National Swimming Finals at the Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool in Sheffield.

In the girls U11 Medley relay, our team of Alice W-M, Isla G, Meghan H and Jessica F qualified through to the ‘B’ final in 8th place. In the final, the girls changed tactics, beating their qualifying time by over a second in a time of 1.12.01 mins and came in 1st position. This ranks them as 9th in the country overall, which is a superb achievement.

The U11 boys qualified in the ‘A’ Medley and Freestyle relays. Beau V-H, Oliver D, Oliver C and Henry F swam magnificently in a time of 1.08.84 mins to come 4th in the Medley relay, narrowly missing out on the podium. In the Freestyle relay, the boys swam their hearts out to come in bronze medal position (3rd in the Country) and were awarded with medals and a plaque.

Congratulations to everyone who swam, especially Alice W-M who just missed out on the School record in 25m back crawl by 6 hundredths of a second.

Henry F beat the School record for the 25m freestyle that has stood since 2008, in a time of 15.08 secs.

Finally, the U11 boys broke the Freestyle relay School record that was incredibly set back in 1999 in a time of 60.16 seconds. This is a phenomenal achievement and huge congratulations go to Oliver D, Beau V-H, Henry F and Oliver C.
