November 2015

Dear Parents and Guardians,

While last half term’s House victories still linger pleasantly in the memories of the girls in Hazeldene, they have returned from the break rejuvenated and refreshed. Eyes are now firmly set on the future and on making the most of the next four and a half weeks.

We have many House events planned for the second half of this term. This coming Friday (20th November) we will have our first Pizza and Karaoke evening from 5.30pm to 8pm. I, for one, am looking forward to grabbing a slice and then grabbing the mic to give my vocal chords a much needed workout!

I am also thrilled to announce the first details for what will be the highlight of the Hazeldene social calendar for many: the Snow Ball. This year's event is to be held at the Hilton, Bromsgrove, on the evening of Saturday 9th January 2016. We would love you to join us for a magical evening, dining and dancing in a Winter Wonderland. Tickets are exclusively available for Sixth Form students and their guests currently, and tickets will be opened for all Hazeldene parents from Monday 30th November. Please see the attached poster for further initial details:

We will be also holding a Charity Auction during the duration of the evening at the Snow Ball; we would be incredibly grateful for any suitable items, opportunities or experiences that you may be able to generously donate. Please contact Gareth Spurgin if you can help with this matter further, via email: garethspurgin@hotmail.co.uk

To help us create a sensational experience for our Snow Ball this year, we would appreciate any help with the decoration and Ball event planning. If you would like to get involved, we are having our first sub-committee meeting this Tuesday 17 November 4:30 in the school café. Please contact Carrie Wiklund, our Secretary, for further details or with any apologies for attendance via email at carriehwik@yahoo.com. We would love to welcome new members to add their input to make this a successful evening for the girls and parents alike.

The first Liaison Committee meeting is also to be held this week; this is our opportunity to raise issues directly with the Head of the Senior School through our PA representatives in the House. If you have any further questions you would like to raise, please contact Gareth Spurgin by Monday.

With best wishes,

Lucy McKee
