An Introduction to the Bromsgrove Service Blog Team 2019/20

About the Blog Group:

Hi there! We are the School blog and we’re a group of students who go around School interviewing people taking part in Bromsgrove Service activities, in order to find out more about them. We also write any additional information that we would like to spread to the School community through the blog.

Read on to find out more about our current members.

Aishah E-N
Lower Sixth

So... hey there, my name is Aishah, I’m in Lower Sixth and my hobbies are drawing, writing, and watching copious amounts of TV shows on Netflix. You know, dear reader, I never really know how to start things, which is the primary reason why there are a lot of so’s and mental um’s in my writing. Writing is a passion of mine, despite my initial awkwardness in starting a good three quarters of my essays; I am, however, really excited to be writing for the blog. I’m also really talkative on occasion, so bugging people with interview questions is also right down my alley. I don’t really know what else to tell you about myself so here are three semi-entertaining facts about me:
1. My name means ‘living carpenter’ in Arabic
2. Some of my photography was displayed in a gallery for an art competition in Egypt
3. I’m fluent in three languages

Anastasiia U
ALP, Year 11

Hello guys, my name is Anastasiia. I was born in Ukraine, in Kiev. I am really interested in art, especially sketching, fashion illustrations and design. I also love sport. I have done Ballroom Dancing for nine years. I am a winner of the Ukrainian Championship and also took 3rd place in the European Championship. Last year, I was nominated as Candidate Master of Sport. In Ukraine, I finished Art School and a big number of Fashion illustration courses, so I am looking forward to study Fashion Management and Design at University in the UK. As my future job will definitely include cooperation with people, doing the School blog will help me to improve my knowledge.

Tang
Upper sixth

I am an upper sixth student studying biology, chemistry, mathematics and doing an EPQ. My interest lies in the latest medical technologies and looking at the many ways biotechnology can be applied into our lives, whether it be through creating insulin from recombinant DNA technology or artificial enzymes for washing our clothes in cold water.
I chose to do this activity because I already have experience by partaking in this activity (Bromsgrove Service Blog) in my Lower Sixth year, so an additional year will help improve my writing and communication skills. I will also be able to promote biology’s endless applications in our world by posting articles onto the School website.

Polina A
ALP, Year 11

HELLO, my name is Polina. I am a new student to Bromsgrove School. Everyone can agree that I am a good student and that I like to study. My favourite subjects are chemistry and maths. I am going to study here for three years, because my goal is to study at Oxford University in future and to become a professional physiologist. I was born in Kiev - the capital of Ukraine. Kiev is one of the biggest cities in Europe. It is a bustling capital of independent Ukraine; it is administrative, economic, scientific, cultural and educational centre. This scenic city with population of over three million people is located on the shores of the Dnepr River The art and architecture of Kiev are considered world treasures. Many famous artists, poets and writers estimated the unique beauty of this city.

I have been living in Ukraine for fifteen years. My family, relatives and friends all live there. I studied in a private school where the education was modern and interesting. I tried many activities, for example: piano, guitar, swimming. Once, I won a swimming Championship in Kiev. Also, I study English, French, and Russian. I won the “English” competition, held for all schools in Kiev. I like travelling. I’ve been to many countries, nearly thirty. England is my favourite country. I’ve been here seven times. I studied in many schools during the summer holidays. The last time I was here, it was for the BEO (British English Olympics).

Growing up I’ve always had a passion for reading, debating and public speaking. The idea of sharing thoughts via words excites me. The combination of merely twenty-six characters being able to translate profound ideas and emotions are miraculous and thrilling. When I discovered the BS blogging club, I didn’t hesitate at all and joined the club with glee, and I haven’t regret it ever since.

By going to this activity every week and sharing bits and pieces of students’ lives onto the School website makes me feel fulfilled and accomplished. It also gives me a wide exposure to other BS happening in School. I am confident to say that BS blogging is one of the best.
