Hitting The Wall Challenge
Posted: 17/05/2018
Most people take five days to complete the eighty-four miles of the Hadrian’s Wall Path from Newcastle to Bowness. Most of the books suggest five days. Most walking guides are helpfully split into five sections. But we wanted more ‘challenge’ to our challenge - so we decided to promote an attempt to complete it in just three days. That is an average of twenty-eight miles - more than a marathon - per day.
Seventeen hardy adventurers, including teachers and friends from Winterfold, Bromsgrove Senior and Prep Schools will be rising to the challenge.
Children at Ncemaneni School in the Zulu Natal Province of South Africa face a daily hike to and from school. This is across rugged, African scrubland. The consequential cuts and grazes can quickly go sceptic, causing lameness, long-term injury and time off school. We want to raise £3000 to buy a pair of shoes for every child at Ncemanemi. But not any old shoe. We have decided to partner with ‘the shoe that grows’ simply because they are brilliant!
Each pair can be adjusted so that they grow with the child. Every £20 of sponsorship money will buy one pair of shoes that will last a child up to 5 years. Money raised over above the target will definitely be put towards the children’s education.
