Outstanding bowling in both the semi-final and final meant the Bromsgrove team lifted the Chesterton Cup Trophy on Sunday, 20th May.

The discipline of the bowling unit has been a major strength this season, which reached new heights during the Chesterton Cup Final. With Malvern 42-0 off 4 overs, it was not looking good. However, cool calm captaincy and great skill levels with the ball meant the boys restricted a talented Malvern College team to 126 from their 20 overs.

Special mention goes to Tom M taking 5-24, Olly D stepping in at the last minute as a Year 9 boy taking one of the best one-handed catches we have seen at schoolboy level. Not forgetting Fahd J, who showed his class with the bat elegantly making his way to 90 not out off 58 balls. Eventually winning by 7 wickets with 15 balls to spare, a brilliant effort!

This was backed up by Dan M taking 4 for 15 and Alex H making 32 off 25 balls in the Semi-final V King’s Worcester.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the boys to play at a first class ground, experiencing all that goes with it, not to mention it being one of the most picturesque grounds in the country.
