Oxbridge

While acknowledging that some of our brightest pupils actively choose not to apply to Oxbridge and Cambridge, Bromsgrove does not leave Oxbridge entrance to chance. The School takes the preparation of pupils for Oxbridge entrance very seriously and, indeed, the programme for such pupils is a continuation of the extension courses we run from the Lower Fourth to the Fifth form.

Pupils who are considering Oxbridge entrance receive support on three levels.  Firstly, departments arrange additional lessons for these pupils in order to expand their horizons and to deepen their passion for and knowledge of the subject.  Secondly, as with the more junior pupils, a variety of optional enrichment sessions takes place on Thursday afternoons.  These include such things as book clubs, physics and engineering workshops and sessions aimed at looking at issues pertaining to medics, dentists and vets.  Thirdly, there is help and guidance from the Head of Oxbridge about personal statements, choice of college and the preparation of work to be submitted for discussion at interview.  The second half of the Michaelmas term is devoted to regular interview practice.

Bromsgrovians have studied a huge range of subjects at Oxford and Cambridge, and that proud tradition continues today.
