Gifted & Talented

All Bromsgrove pupils should be stretched well beyond the confines of the curriculum, but the most able sometimes need specially tailored prgrammes. Comfort zones are unhelpful places for young, lively minds.

Able pupils are identified using a variety of methods including aptitude testing, recommendation by subject teachers, results in tests and performance in examinations.  Pupils in the Lower Fourth, Upper Fourth and Fifth Forms are invited to weekly lunchtime sessions designed to stimulate interest in topics not on the normal curriculum.  Over the past three years many things have been discussed from the unique contribution of Einstein to the health benefits of chocolate. Senior pupils join subject specific groups and have extension sessions on Thursday afternoons.  These aim to prepare the pupils for Oxbridge entrance but are designed to be as enjoyable as they are rigorous. Oxbridge preparation and equivalent also involves one to one tutorials and seminars on broader themes. We encourage Bromsgrovians to challenge orthodoxies and develop as original, creative thinkers.
